| Common Mergansers (middle left) and both Barrow's and Common Goldeneye (lower right) enjoy residing year round in the pristine lake and river feeding on aquatic plants, insects and various growth stages of fish. |
| The cycle of the salmon is the tie that binds together the food chain and as part of that circle, the hatchery insures that the cycle will continue as depicted in the blue circle above. Black bears also make their home in the Klawock watershed. During the fall season with the returning of the salmon, one can see adult boars, sows with up to 3 cubs and yearlings playing the "local" fisherman wading in the river and at stream mouths. |
